These terms govern your use of The Local Trail website and services. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. About The Local Trail

The Local Trail is a directory of local independent food and produce sellers across the UK. We provide a platform for sellers to list their business and for visitors to find local sellers near them. We are not a marketplace we do not handle transactions between buyers and sellers.

2. Accounts

You must be 18 or over to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Please notify us immediately at hello@thelocaltrail.net if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Listings

When you submit a listing, you confirm that:

• You are the owner or authorised representative of the business being listed
• All information provided is accurate and up to date
• You have the right to use any photos you upload (they must not infringe third-party copyright)
• The listing does not contain misleading, offensive or illegal content

We reserve the right to approve, reject, edit or remove any listing at our discretion, with or without notice. Listings are subject to review before publication.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use The Local Trail to:

• Post false, misleading or fraudulent listings
• Harass, impersonate or harm other users
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its systems
• Scrape, crawl or systematically extract data from the site without our permission
• Use the site for any unlawful purpose

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently delete accounts that breach these rules.

5. Paid subscriptions

Certain features (such as the Self-Service EPOS) require a paid subscription. Where offered, a free trial period is available no card details are required during the trial. After the trial period, access will be locked until a subscription is started.

Subscriptions are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time and access will continue until the end of the billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice. We will notify you by email before any price changes take effect.

6. The EPOS system

The Self-Service EPOS is a tool to help you take orders from customers. We are not party to any transaction between you and your customers. You are solely responsible for: the accuracy of your prices and product information; fulfilling orders; and any disputes with customers. We accept no liability for losses arising from use of the EPOS.

7. Intellectual property

The Local Trail name, logo and site design are our intellectual property. You retain ownership of any content you submit (listing descriptions, photos etc.), but by submitting it you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it on the site for the purpose of operating the directory.

8. Availability and liability

We aim to keep the site available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the site being unavailable, from inaccuracies in listings, or from your reliance on information found on the site.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with these terms shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered members of significant changes by email. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
